Using Visual Aids in Teaching Speaking Skills to Eighth-Grade Students at Al-Abrar Institute, South Tapanuli District

Abstract

Students' difficulties in pronouncing Arabic occur because of their inability to memorize vocabulary and understand it. Some students find it difficult to understand Arabic when it is only in written form, which makes it difficult for them to memorize vocabulary. How is the use of image media in learning speaking skills for second-grade students of Al-Abraar Modern Islamic Boarding School, South Tapanuli? What are the supporting and inhibiting factors for the use of visual image media in learning speaking skills for second-grade students at Al-Abraar Modern Islamic Boarding School, South Tapanuli? The purpose of this study is to determine the use of image media in learning speaking skills for second-grade students of Al-Abraar Modern Islamic Boarding School, South Tapanuli, and to find out what the supporting and inhibiting factors are for the use of visual image media in learning speaking skills for second-grade students of Al-Abraar Modern Islamic Boarding School, South Tapanuli. This research is qualitative and uses a descriptive approach. The results of this study are, first, that the use of image media makes it easier for students of Al-Abraar Modern Islamic Boarding School to develop their ability to speak Arabic, and, second, students become more confident when speaking Arabic without feeling embarrassed and afraid of making mistakes. Third, students are more diligent in memorizing Arabic vocabulary and books every day. Fourth, students consistently practice speaking Arabic to become more fluent and smooth, enabling them to communicate spontaneously in Arabic anywhere and at any time. The conclusion is that this method can help improve speaking skills, understanding of vocabulary and sentence structure, and students' motivation to learn Arabic, so it can be one of the effective methods for learning speaking skills.
