FILLMORE2026-06-30T15:21:58+00:00Rifki Mustofarifkymustofa5@gmail.com
The phenomenon of sentence structure usage is frequently found in the context of Arabic literary works, in which the construction of linguistic elements such as verbs and nouns demonstrates a clear relationship within a narrative, thereby reflecting the semantic relationship between the agent, the action, and the consequence. This can be observed in one form of literary work, namely the short story. The purpose of this study is to uncover and describe the sentence structure specifically the modal elements in the short story “Yad al-Qadar” by Muhammad Husain Haikal through the lens of Charles J. Fillmore’s Case Grammar. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The primary data source consists of the narrative from the short story “Yad al-Qadar”, while the secondary data sources include books, journals, scientific articles, and previous studies relevant to this research. Data were collected through the read-and-record technique, and data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, presentation of the reduced data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study reveal 33 data points reflecting modality. The modalities identified consist of five types: tense, aspect, negation, adverb, and mood. It is hoped that the results of this study will enrich linguistic research, particularly in the field of case grammar as applied to Arabic literary works, and provide a deeper understanding of the role of modality in constructing meaning, the sequence of events, and the relationships between characters in literary texts.
2026-07-03T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Rifki Mustofa Mustofahttps://darelmahara.org/index.php/elmahara/article/view/286TEACHING ARABIC GRAMMAR RULES BASED ON THE AL-‘UMARIṬĪ ON THE EDUCATIONAL CHANNEL2026-06-12T13:45:34+00:00Nur Cholis Agyus Santoso Santosonur.cholis@stai-ali.ac.id
This study investigates grammar teaching methods based on al-Naẓm al-ʿUmariṭī as presented on the “al-Salāsil wa al-Durūs wa al-Qawāʾim al-ʿIlmiyyah” YouTube channel. Grammar is a core discipline in Arabic that enhances linguistic accuracy and comprehension, yet its teaching faces challenges from teachers, students, and curriculum aspects. Students often perceive grammar as difficult, reducing motivation. Teaching issues include the lack of systematic progression, inappropriate textbooks, and unsuitable instructional methods. This study aims to provide recommendations for improving grammar instruction. It uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation of recorded lessons and analyzed descriptively. The findings show that the teacher’s objectives are to support understanding of the Qur’an, Sunnah, and scholarly interpretations. The teaching methods include practical explanation, lecturing, questioning, and discussion, along with reinforcement techniques. However, no instructional media are used.
2026-07-04T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Nur Cholis Agyus Santoso Santoso
