Peer Review Process
Bidayah: Journal of Islamic Education applies a rigorous peer review process to ensure that all published articles meet academic standards of quality, originality, and relevance within the field of Islamic Education. This journal uses a double-blind peer review system, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are initially evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief to determine whether they comply with the journal’s scope, focus, and basic submission requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected at this stage without further review.
Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to a handling editor and subsequently reviewed by at least two expert reviewers in the relevant field. The peer review process is conducted under a double-blind system to ensure objectivity and academic integrity.
First Decision
The first editorial decision is made after receiving at least two review reports. At this stage, the manuscript may be accepted, rejected, or returned to the author for minor or major revisions. In some cases, the manuscript may be recommended for resubmission if substantial revisions in content or language are required.
If the manuscript is accepted, it will proceed to the production stage for formatting and publication preparation. The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief, based on the recommendation of the handling editor and editorial board considerations.
Revision Stage
Manuscripts requiring revision will be returned to the author(s) for improvement. Authors are generally given up to three weeks to complete revisions. The handling editor will evaluate whether the revisions adequately address the reviewers’ comments and suggestions.
If the revisions are deemed insufficient, the manuscript may be returned to the author(s) for further revision. This process may be repeated until the manuscript meets the journal’s standards or is ultimately rejected.
Final Decision Stage
At this stage, the revised manuscript will be either accepted or rejected. The decision is based on the handling editor’s assessment of whether the manuscript has been sufficiently improved and meets the journal’s publication standards.
Manuscripts that fail to meet the required improvements or do not comply with academic standards of Bidayah: Journal of Islamic Education will be rejected.
Estimated Time for Peer Review
The estimated duration of the peer review process, from initial submission to final decision, is approximately 6–8 weeks, depending on the responsiveness of reviewers and authors during the revision process.
